GlaxoSmithKline hires Greg Grunberg for Hollywood Helping Hands

Situation
- CHL was contacted in the fall of 2004 by Greg Grunberg’s manager to help find sponsorship for a fund raiser event he was organizing for the UCLA Division of Pediatric Neurology.
- CHL works extensively work with Greg’s manager on various celebrity campaigns.
- After some investigation, CHL uncovered that Greg’s son Jake had epilepsy and was being very successfully treated with Lamictal.
- Greg was already enlisting the help of numerous stars who he asked to render a personalized finger painting that could be auctioned off at a fund raising event.
- Greg was having an easy time enlisting celebrities but needed additional help to really get the word out to the media.
Solution
- CHL contacted GSK and proposed a partnership whereby GSK would manage the media relations portion of the event.
- Greg was passionate about the cause and about his son’s treatment. Since Jake was being treated with Lamictal CHL was convinced this was a great opportunity and natural fit for GSK.
